How do we determine if a tree is good or not, alive or dead? We look at its fruit, if we see a strong and a firm stem, attractive fruit bearing branches, and those fruits are fresh and delicious then we must acknowledge the truth and admit of the greatness of this tree.
Similarly, how do we determine if a community is truly established by God, we look at its values and teachings, how they are being implemented and finally, we look at its followers and ask, are they people of God? Have they dedicated their lives for the sake of their Creator, and have they put the service of mankind as their goal.
The past week the Jama’at has been remembering a young soul that has passed away, in an early stage of its life. Yet despite this man’s young age, He was an outstanding sign of the truthfulness of this community. A result of a beautiful upbringing and great moral values derived from stem of the tree to which he belongs, the tree of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
Throughout his short life he succeeded to touched hearts of the people he met, and after his death he touched the hearts of those he didn’t meet. People who could have never met him in his life are now remembering him and praying that Allah rest his soul in paradise and peace, among his chosen ones.
Most of the people who die and move from this life to the next, are remembered solely by their family and close friends. Legacy is a very rare case, however, if the life of a person was a testimony of the existence of God, his death will be also a testimony to that as well. And those who live and die for God the Almighty are eternally living in the minds of those who come to know them, whether during their lives, or after their death.
The Khalifa of Islam stated that it is important to remember the good qualities of people like the late Raza Saleem sb, yet it is far more important to adopt these qualities. The late Raza Saleem sb has inspired many during his life, and many-many more after his death. And he will live eternally in the hearts of those he had inspired.
“And say not of those who are killed in the cause of Allah that they are dead; nay, they are living; only you perceive not.” [The Holy Quran, 2:155]
May Allah grant the late Raza Saleem sb a great status in heaven, and may He bless the community with beautiful and pure souls such as the soul of the demised, may Allah enable the mothers of this community to raise a generation of loyal and devout Ahmadi Muslims, and may He help us to follow the path of righteousness.
